Youth Development Program

Mission Statement

It is the intention of the Corner Boxing Club Development Program to work with everyone whose mission reflects the core values of the club, while protecting the integrity and promoting the sport of boxing. This program will provide an environment where young athletes can establish skills that promote physical and emotional wellbeing. While expanding individual athletic skills, the athletes will develop work ethic, discipline, sportsmanship, personal character, pride and respect. This respect extends unconditionally to ALL people regardless of age, race, gender identity, sexuality, or socioeconomic status. As our athletes develop both in and out of the ring, they will be offered the opportunity to compete. This will include participation in local shows and tournaments held throughout the year to promote sense of community while providing young athletes an opportunity to showcase their talents.

After-School Youth Program

Junior Youth (Ages 8-12)

Tuesdays and Thursdays
3:30 pm to 6:00 pm

This program focuses on teaching young athletes basic boxing and motor skills in a fun and interactive environment, while promoting the values and interpersonal skills expressed in the program mission statement. Youth in the Junior Youth Boxing Program must attend at least 2 days a week in order to maintain enrollment. To enroll your child or young adult in our after-school program please call or send us an email.

Competitive Youth (Ages 13-17)

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
3:30 pm to 6:00 pm

Saturdays
11:00 am

Younger athletes interested in competition will need permission from the program instructors in order to participate in the Competitive Youth program. Boxing instruction takes place from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm with time before and after for students to complete schoolwork in our youth academic center. This program focuses on preparing athletes for competition by first teaching boxing fundamentals, then integrating that knowledge into live boxing scenarios. It should be noted, however, that while this program has a competitive focus, no athlete is required to compete. Youth enrolled in the Competitive Youth Boxing Program are required to volunteer at least one Saturday a month to maintain their gym membership. The volunteer work may range from helping with gym maintenance and general cleaning duties to working gym-sponsored events. Youth who would like to enroll in our Competitive Youth Boxing Program can fill out an application and return it to The Corner Boxing Club gym or office staff. Athletes of all levels of experience are welcome to apply. Limited space available.
